Q: What’s the best film to feature Good Friday in it’s title?

A: “The Long Good Friday” of course!

There WILL be a dedicated post to this classic at some point, but for now enjoy the trailer.  [I would be watching this tonight but a) I’ve neglected to buy the DVD [yet], b) I haven’t found it on 16mm [yet], and c) it doesn’t appear to be available on any streaming service we are subscribed to!)

I mentioned “The Long Good Friday” in an East End pub last month and the guy I was talking with immediately, and without any prompting, recited the following quote perfectly:

“For more than ten years there’s been peace – everyone to his own patch. We’ve all had it sweet. I’ve done every single one of you favours in the past – I’ve put money in all your pockets. I’ve treated you well, even when you was out of order, right? Well now there’s been an eruption! It’s like … Belfast on a bad night. One of my closest friends is lyin’ out there in the freezer. And believe me, all of you, nobody goes home until I find out who done it, and why.”
